From Guadeloupe to Canteloup The news out there is loop-the-loop I never miss a single day Not listening to what they say The Balkans War, the Falklands War The Moon Show to the Goon Show But I got a sky rocket We get to ride on it We got the key We live at number twenty three And when Sunday comes We’ll laugh the day away With a sequence of sequins Attached to her waist She will dance for me Pour champagne on my face With marble halls and parchment walls You’d think the rich have got it all But roaming round designer homes You’ll hear those rich designees moan "The kitchen’s crap, we need new taps We’ll have to move to Glasgow" But I got a sky rocket We get to ride on it... We got the key We live at number twenty three And when Sunday comes We’ll laugh the day away With a sequence of sequins Attached to her waist She will dance for me Pour champagne on my face They rush up to the check-in queue The people check in two by two Cos there’s a place that they belong Except when they get there it’s gone So let’s run home where we’re alone Hush Puppy and Sex Kitten ‘Cause I got a sky rocket We get to fly on it... We got the key We live at number twenty three And when Sunday comes We’ll laugh the day away With a sequence of sequins Attached to her waist She will dance for me Pour champagne on my face

There’s a place once known for arts and science Where if it doesn’t rain it’s sure to pour These days they don’t want a new alliance Just get rid of the one they had before They don’t want co-operation Aim to live in isolation Call themselves an island nation Sink ‘em Europe thought the time was right for learning After living through the two world wars The politics of hatred’s now returning All principle’s been shaken to the core They don’t want co-operation Don’t care much for education Call themselves an island nation Sink ‘em They’re going to set up barriers and borders So they have something they can hide behind They’ll wait to hear the rich give out their orders Cos money’s all that matters in their minds They don’t want co-operation Love the sound of confrontation Call themselves an island nation Fuck ‘em Now they spit at people with an accent And ridicule those with a different skin One day you’re gonna wonder where the time went When you feel the darkness closing in They don’t want co-operation Specialise in exploitation Call themselves an island nation Sink ‘em The billionaires have ring fenced all their money They’re using fear and hate to win the hearts Of those who think that violence is funny Let’s watch the island nation fall apart They don’t want co-operation Don’t desire conciliation Call themselves an island nation Sink ‘em One more thing I’ll say with trepidation For though I am ashamed I cannot lie I myself was born in that sick nation But I’m going somewhere else to die They don’t want co-operation Want to live in isolation Call themselves an island nation Fuck ‘em

The night when you danced in Nashville to the country sound And no-one else did, I remember we just stood around It was so good to see you live the harmony Let music set you free Life can be tough, confusing at the best of times We all get enough of making sense of pantomimes So when you get home, just let the world go fly Let music get you by I played in a band one sunset in the month of June And you were just standing listening to every tune But I knew inside, your voice was quietly singing A silent counterpart Cos you got the heart to let the other people sing To give them a start, and a start is almost everything So let’s see you smile and be proud of what you do Cos music loves you too

You got ideas in the pipeline You got some irons in the fire But they won’t last you a lifetime And the years will conspire If I could just tell you one thing And you really listening I’d say it like Nikos said it We’re just here to dance upon the sand If you say you get sad Cos the night’s coming on I’d say it isn’t so bad It’s just the dark before dawn If I could just tell you one thing And you really listening I’d say it like Nikos said it We’re just here to dance upon the sand So throw the iron in the pipeline And those ideas in the fire There can be love in a lifetime If that’s what you inspire If I could just tell you one thing And you really listening I’d say it like Nikos said it I’d tell you what Nikos told you I’d tell it like Nikos told it We’re just here to dance upon the sand
